With summer just around the corner, it’s time to start preparing for the reopening of your backyard pool. Of course, this includes all of the usual steps of the reopening process – cleaning/removing the cover, raising the water level, reattaching the equipment, etc. But every new pool season, many pool owners discover the need for large-scale Chalfont pool renovations. It’s inevitable for all pool owners – eventually, time and Mother Nature will take their toll on your pool, and the need for a refinishing job will arise.
This can be an exciting time for a pool owner, as it allows you to revamp your pool with a polished, eye-catching contemporary finish. These days, there is a wide variety of pool finish options for you to choose from. Here are a few of our favorites:
- Polished aggregate finishes – Polished aggregate finishes are made up of finely crushed stones – usually either granite, quartz, or marble. These materials are hand applied with a trowel to the shell of a pool, and then polished. A polished finish gives your pool an even, smooth, and distinguished look. These finishes will also extend the life of your finish by 10-12 years, compared to a basic plaster finish.
- Exposed aggregate finishes – These finishes are made up of either river pebbles or glass beads. Like polished finishes, these are applied by hand. But instead of finishing the job with a polish, these finishes are then pressure washed in order to remove the top layer and expose the pebbles or beads. An exposed aggregate finish offers increased traction for your pool surface. They also come in a large variety of textures and colors.
- Tile finishes – Tile is a tried-and-true, reliable finish material for any swimming pool. This is one of the most durable finish materials, and allows you to be creative with the design. Tile can be applied as an accent for your pool’s waterline, steps, or floor. Tile is one of the pricier pool finish options, however, its durability makes it a worthwhile investment. Tile comes in ceramic, porcelain, glass, and stone.
With so many choices available today, you’ll be sure to find a Chalfont pool renovation option that matches your style and budget.
