Pool safety is important to keep in mind all year, even in the off season. The staff at Coronado’s Pool Renovations cares deeply about our customers’ safety, and with over 25 years of experience under our belt we are experts in essential tips for pool safety. We present this guide to pool safety in the hopes that everyone takes safety precautions every time they enter a swimming pool or pool area.
Kent County: How to Practice Swimming Safety
Pool safety is as easy as following some basic tips and using common sense. To make sure you and others around you are swimming safely, follow these tips (from the American Red Cross):
- Constantly supervise children in and around pool areas. An adult and/or experienced swimmer should always be around to make sure young swimmers stay safe around the pool.
- Keep pool water clean and healthy. Coronado’s previously posted a guide to keeping pools sanitary; please review for tips on keeping your pool clean!
- Limit your skin’s exposure to direct sunlight, particularly from the hours of 10 a.m.-4 p.m. when UV rays are the strongest. Always use a sunscreen to help protect skin.
- Stay hydrated. Even if you don’t feel thirsty, the exercise from swimming as well as exposure to sunlight can take a toll. Water is best; avoid caffeinated or alcoholic beverages.
- Fence or otherwise partition off swimming pool. Consider getting a gate that locks. This will avoid accidental wandering in or near pool by children or animals.
Keep in mind that this list contains only the most basic tips of pool safety; always employ any and all safety precautions you are able to. When it comes to taking swimming precautions one can never be too safe!
